Version 2.0 Upgrade FAQ

This page provides answers to a number of common questions many customers have when upgrading to OfficeStatus v2.0 from a previous v1.x release.

Will our existing OfficeStatus v1.x license work with the new v2.0 release?

No. OfficeStatus v2.0 is a major product release, and existing v1.x product licenses will not work with it. Existing v1.x license holders that are interested in upgrading their OfficeStatus product installations to the new v2.0 release will also need to upgrade their product licenses.

We own an OfficeStatus v1.x license. Can we upgrade to v2.0 at a discount?

Yes. Please email our sales department for upgrade discount information. Please be sure to include details regarding your current product license.

Should we remove our existing OfficeStatus Server installation before installing the new v2.0 release?

No. The OfficeStatus v2.0 product installer is designed to upgrade existing v1.x server installations. However, because database entities are being modified during this upgrade process, it is strongly recommended that you back up your existing OfficeStatus database prior to upgrading.

Must we upgrade our OfficeStatus Client installations immediately after upgrading OfficeStatus Server?

No. OfficeStatus Server is designed specifically to avoid this requirement by retaining protocol-level compatibility with existing OfficeStatus Client releases. In other words, your existing OfficeStatus Client v1.x installations will be able to communicate with your new OfficeStatus Server v2.0 installation.

However, please keep in mind that some new OfficeStatus v2.0 features (such as client settings management from within OfficeStatus Server) will NOT be available to existing OfficeStatus Client v1.x installations. Also, OfficeStatus Windows Client v2.0 includes a large number of functional and performance improvements. For these reasons, we recommend upgrading your OfficeStatus Client installations as soon as possible.

Will Key Metric Software continue to support OfficeStatus v1.x?

Yes, we're still able to provide technical support for OfficeStatus v1.x releases. However, we will not be issuing any new service releases for v1.x.
