Upgrade FAQ

This page provides answers to a number of common questions many customers have when upgrading to OfficeStatus v2.0 from a previous v1.x release.

Will our existing OfficeStatus v2.x license work with the new v3.0 release?

No. OfficeStatus v3.0 is a major product release, and existing v2.x product licenses will not work with it. Existing license holders that are interested in upgrading their OfficeStatus product installations to the new v3.0 release will also need to upgrade their product licenses.

We just purchased OfficeStatus v2.5 - do we get a free v3.0 upgrade?

Customers who licensed OfficeStatus v2.5 on or after October 25th, 2011 are eligible to have those licenses upgraded to v3.0 for free. If you fall into this category, please email our sales department with your license information (please include your original order ID). You'll receive an upgrade license upon verification of eligibility.

We own an OfficeStatus v1.x or v2.x license. Can we upgrade to v3.0 at a discount?

Yes. Please email our sales department for upgrade discount information. Please be sure to include details regarding your current product license.

Should we remove our existing OfficeStatus Server installation before installing the new v3.0 release?

Yes. When moving from an existing version of OfficeStatus Server to the new v3.0, additional upgrade steps are required, explained in detail here. If you're upgrading from one v3.x release to another, there is no need to un-install first.

Must we upgrade our OfficeStatus Client installations immediately after upgrading OfficeStatus Server?

No. OfficeStatus Server is designed specifically to avoid this requirement by retaining protocol-level compatibility with existing OfficeStatus Client releases. In other words, your existing OfficeStatus Client v2.x installations will be able to communicate with your new OfficeStatus Server v3.0 installation.

However, please keep in mind that some new OfficeStatus v3.0 features (such as password policy enforcement) will NOT be available to existing OfficeStatus Client v1.x installations. Also, OfficeStatus Windows Client v3.0 includes a large number of functional and performance improvements. For these reasons, we recommend upgrading your OfficeStatus Windows Client installations as soon as possible.

Will Key Metric Software continue to support OfficeStatus v2.x?

Yes, we're still able to provide technical support for OfficeStatus v2.x installations. However, we will not be issuing any new service releases for v2.x. Support for OfficeStatus v1.x has been formally discontinued.
