What's New in OfficeStatus v3

“ Employee Status & Presence - Evolved ”

OfficeStatus v3.0 is here, and it brings over 60 new features and enhancements to the table. Here are just some of the highlights:

Site-Wide Scheduled Status Changes

OfficeStatus v3 offers the ability to schedule status changes on a site-wide basis. For example, you can now set the status of all users to "Out" at 5pm, Monday through Friday. Site-wide status schedules provide several options that allow you to control their scope, timing, and more.

New & Improved Reporting

A brand new User Time Card report shows the number of hours each user is "In" per day. Also new is our Status Summary report, which shows the distribution of users across all statuses. We've also improved the layout of all reports, and enhanced report generation performance considerably.

Status History Record Management

OfficeStatus v3 now provides the ability to manage user status history records, allowing you to manipulate the data that underlies the User Time Card and User Status History reports. OfficeStatus Administrators can edit or delete existing user status history records, or insert new ones.

Read-Only Public Status View

By popular request, we've added a read-only public user status view. When enabled, this feature makes OfficeStatus user status visible to office guests, clients, etc. This view is also perfect for display in a common area, as it is designed to scale to multiple monitor sizes. Refresh is entirely automatic, and many filtering and display options are available.

Organizational Tree

The new organizational tree view shows your company's hierarchical structure. This helps employees to quickly understand how teams are comprised within your company and make better communications decisions. Also useful as a photo / contact browser for new staff members.

Improved Administrative Features

OfficeStatus v3.0 adds a wealth of new administrative features, including:

  • Password policy - Require users to conform to password complexity rules.
  • Improved active directory import - Now imports additional user data and supports department matching.
  • Support for disabling status scheduling - Prevents users from scheduling status changes.
  • Status ordering - Allows you to present status choices to end users in a specific order.
  • Explicit user account deletion - Removes users (and all data dependencies) entirely.
  • And much more!

Improved Messaging

Messages (referred to as "notes" in previous releases) have been enhanced to provide a new "sent" message view. Messages are also now searchable by subject, sender name, and date. The web-based messaging user interface has been completely overhauled to improve usability.

Company Announcements

OfficeStatus Company Announcements allow administrators to communicate time-sensitive information to employees. Announcements have a starting date and time, an optional end date and time, and can optionally target a specific location. They are presented to OfficeStatus users in a prominent (but unintrusive) manner through all (desktop, web, and mobile web) interfaces.

Windows Client Features

Our OfficeStatus Windows Client desktop interface has received a number of important updates, including:

  • New dictionaries - Now ships with spell checking dictionaries in 10 different language configurations.
  • Global hotkey support - Optionally brings Windows Client to the forefront via a user-specified key combination.
  • Windows 7 taskbar integration - Allows users to change status directly through the Windows 7 taskbar.
  • Main window minimize/close customization - Users can now customize main window close/minimize behavior to suit their needs.
  • Improved printing - Support for printing in mini-mode view, direct printing capability.
  • Much more!

Telephony Event Integration

OfficeStatus Windows Client v3.0 now offers the ability to automatically change employee status when telephone connect/disconnect events are detected. This feature includes the ability to update the user's status comments to include the caller ID of the remote party (when available).

Status Management

Statuses are now more flexible than ever. Built-in statuses can now be renamed, and their images can be changed. It's also now possible to use custom statuses in status events (previously, only "in", "out", and "unavailable" were supported). Handling of quick status changes (those for which due back and status comment data are not provided) is also improved.

Web Interface Features

Our customers love the OfficeStatus web interface for its speed, flexibility, and professional appearance. For v3.0, we've tweaked and extended it even further.

  • Improved browser support - Updated to support the latest releases of Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera.
  • Improved theming, layout, and performance - Numerous updates to all presentation aspects of the web interface.
  • Pop-up message reader window - View messages within a resizable pop-up window.
  • Re-designed message reader - Now with improved layout, paging support, and more.
  • Improved status board - Message board functions have been streamlined. Expanding a user status node now reveals the user's status schedule.

Mobile Web Interface Improvements

The mobile web interface that was introduced with OfficeStatus v2.5 has received a number of important feature updates:

  • Improved message reader - Now with message status icons, an option to show only unread message, and improved layout.
  • Improved rendering speeds - Dramatically reduced page weight results in faster mobile browser rendering.
  • New "phones & addresses" view - When viewing user contact data, you can now drill down into a complete phone/address listing.
